A Proud Tradition on the Chesapeake Bay
Bodkin Yacht Club, Inc. is a well-established, member-maintained boating organization with a strong sense of tradition and community. Founded in 1957 on the site of the former Carbacks Marina—now known as Pleasure Cove Marina—the club was built on the customs and bylaws of other respected yacht clubs in the region.
As membership grew, the club purchased a nearby property overlooking Bodkin Creek. This new location, complete with docks and a house that served as the clubhouse, became the permanent home of Bodkin Yacht Club. After a fire destroyed the original clubhouse in 1987, the current clubhouse and lounge were constructed, continuing the club’s legacy in an updated space designed to bring members together.
While boating is at our core, Bodkin Yacht Club is also an active social organization. In addition to a full calendar of cruises, the club hosts a variety of events for members, families, and guests. These include the Commodore’s Ball in February, the Bull & Oyster Roast in the spring, the annual Crab Feast, and many more.
At Bodkin Yacht Club, we take pride in preserving tradition while creating meaningful experiences—both on and off the water.

Bodkin Yacht Club operates as a Maryland non-profit corporation and is owned and maintained by its members. The club is managed by elected volunteer officers and a seventeen-member board of directors, with oversight from the general membership. |
The Commodore serves as the club’s presiding officer and represents the organization at yacht club events throughout the Chesapeake Bay region. | The Vice Commodore oversees the clubhouse grounds and organizes several signature events, including Opening Weekend, the Fleet Review and more. | The Rear Commodore manages internal clubhouse operations, including the inside bar, outside bar and kitchen. | The Fleet Captain organizes in-season cruises and manages over 60 boat slips available to regular members. |
